It's Getting Crazy

Back on March 23, I wrote a blog titled “Four Wrongs Make a Right?” on my web site www.ericbischoff.com . I won’t revisit the subject matter of the blog, but back in March I made this observation:

“Thanks to Obama and the mind numbing stupidity of the democratically controlled band of thieves otherwise known as Congress, I believe this country is on its way to a real revolution. And not the kind that brings “hope”.

I made this observation because it is clear to me that Obama and Congress have a Socialist agenda for our country and are pushing America to the brink in order to achieve it.

Unfortunately, according to this story, I may have been right: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/18/dozen-protesters-guns-outside-obama-speech/.

Those of you who have taken the time to read my blogs know that I am an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment. In fact one of the primary reasons I think Sonia Sotomayor is unqualified to be a member of the Supreme Court was her mealy-mouthed explanation of why she doesn’t think the 2nd Amendment is a fundamental Constitutional right despite the clarity on the matter found in the 14th Amendment.

Enough of that.

I have a number of guns. Rifles handed down to me by my father, shotguns I use for hunting, and pistols I collect (I am a big fan of old Colts .45’s) and yes, pistols that I have in my home for protection and that I occasionally carry concealed as a concealed carry permit holder.

For the past 20 years, more and more states have passed concealed carry permit laws that allow law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon. This has happened of two reasons: (a) statistics have unequivocally proven that in states that have such laws, crime goes down. Forget the hyperbole, the sound bite, liberal fairy tale mentality to the contrary, the numbers don’t lie. Liberals who campaign against our FUNDAMENTAL CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS do. And (b) the NRA.

The NRA and its members have worked diligently to make sure that our rights are represented in Washington. The power of the NRA is formidable and without it I am confident that we would have the same type of gun laws that are found in the U.K. where “knife violence” has become an epidemic.

As a gun owner and concealed carry permit holder, I implore those of you who are passionate about your 2nd Amendment rights to be smart, and don’t play in to the aforementioned liberal strategy of portraying gun owners as reckless, gun toting maniacs that are carrying rifles to Presidential rallies in order to intimidate the public.

Put your passion where it counts: your vote. Find out who your Congressman/woman is (http://www.house.gov/) and articulately and respectfully voice your firm support of the 2nd Amendment.

And support the NRA.

  1. I'll understand the arguments for and against gun laws and to be honest I don;t have an opinion on it. That said, please don't quote Fox News as a legitimate source of news.
Fox News is pushing the agenda of the christian right and does not provide objective coverage.

Much better to use two opposing views or in this case a democratic paper and use this as evidence.

Failure to temper your sources leads one to think you actually take Fox News seriously.

  2. So if the current congress is a "band of thieves" because it is Democractically controlled, where were you when Bush, Cheney, and cronies robbed everybody blind and sold you down the garden path with the Iraq war? Where was the conservative outrage then? Is it more immoral to call foul when you don't agree with the agenda of a government (which is liberal although barely socialist if you look at real socialism) when you stand by and applaud outright treachery because they are from your side of the aisle?

  3. I like you Eazy E, I always have, I supported WCW to the very end. But your bitter nonsensical anti-Obama rants are beneath you. You're an intelligent man, you really shouldn't be spewing mindless drivel that clearly isn't based on facts or evidence.

No one has ever said all gun owners are psychos. But any intelligent person can see that guns themselves are a danger to society and making them harder to get for criminals ia hardly a bad thing. No one's trying to take your guns away from you Bisch nor has anyone ever said anything of the sort.

It is amusing to see a guy who showed no fiscal responsibility and ran a multimillion dollar company complain about how others are running the country. Can you imagine how in debt we'd be if you were President? You'd probably hire the Warrior and spend billions on it.

    Laughable mate.

  4. I'd like for you to explain to us how carrying weapons and brandishing them in public when the President of the United States speaks in public is not viewd as "intimidating." I find it very hypocritical that people are allowed to exercise this "right" in public when the leader of our country is present, when there was all kinds of hell raised in the 1970's when the Black Panthers did the same thing around GOVERNOR Ronald Reagan. I'd be so interested in hearing your thoughts on this, as I'm very ignorant of how this is socially acceptable now, when it wasn't back then.

    Thanks :)

  5. $Money$, I think you miss my point (or perhaps I didn't do a good job making it), I agree with you. I think the individuals who decided to carry a weapon openly in a situation like that exercised poor judgement at the very least, and opened themselves up to the ridicule of of the anti 2nd Amendment group. That is why I asked them to use their votes and their right not contact their Congressmen, and support of the NRA to protect their rights.

  6. Charlie, In hindsight the Iraq war was a mistake. Just remember that ALL of Congress (including Hillary), when provided with the same intelligence voted for the invasion of Iraq. These are two separate issues. One was a bad decision made by both parties with the overwhelming support of the American public, and the other is the systematic Socialization of our Democracy against the will of the MAJORITY of the American public.

  7. Newton Gimmick that was very uncalled for and so off topic. If Eric ran for office I would vote for him in a second because I think he would do a way better job then what we have with Obama today. Obama should not even be allowed to be president based on his lack of skills to do his job.

Although I am not a big gun fan I agree with you Eric about guns and our second Amendment rights.
